Movie Night II - The Old Gardener Launch
After the huge success of ‘Movie Night’ back in April, Richard is returning to The Plaza Cinema Truro for a special night of films!
This event will be the official release of Richard’s new single and film “The Old Gardener” which tells the unbelievable story of how Leekseed Chapel at St Blazey Gate got it’s unusual name!
This event will be slightly different to the last cinema event – it will take place in Screen 5 at the Plaza, which only seats 55 people in total. Screen 5 is at the top of the building and has it’s own bar within the screen! This will be a Sunday afternoon screening showing the new film as well as Richard’s other films and also a brand new outtakes film from all the releases so far!
All ticket holders will get a free glass of fizz on arrival!
There will not be a gig as such but Richard may perform “The Old Gardener” and “Richard Jose” the other track being released on this date!
Unfortunately Screen 5 is not served by a lift and is therefore not accessible for those with mobility issues.
Post event drinks to be arranged!

October 18, 2024 - 7PM - 9PM - St Austell Library
Following the dramatic events at Charlestown with the flood gates failing, Charlestown Harbour is closed until further notice.
This means Sam and Andy who run ‘The Lady Daphne’ have had to cancel all their upcoming events and in turn are losing out on a lot of funds required to continue restoration work – just as winter is around the corner!
We are going to go ahead with ‘A cosy night out’ and all performers will be donating their time and skills to give The Lady Daphne 100% of any money raised.
This event will be a bring your own Cheese and Wine to add to a communal cheese and wine fund for the evening!
There will be performances from:
Jamie Sterritt, Molly Biscoe and Richard Trethewey.
We will watch my existing films as well as previewing my new film about how Leek Seed Methodist Church got it’s unusual name!
I’m working on the log burner aspect of the evening…. I have a plan!
More details coming soon - timings approximate!

I will be playing acoustically (mostly!) and will be joined by Neal Jolly on Double Bass, whistles and vocals, Laura Garcia on Piano and vocals and Jamie Sterritt on Harp.
Parking will be arranged next to the church in a privately owned field.

The Piggery is a comfortable modern space created in 2020. The original barn dates back to 1750, and in the 1950’s was converted into a state-of-the-art piggery by Lord Beaverbrook, the newspaper magnate. The venue is located at Hole Farm, an ancient Cornish farmstead dating back to around 1200.
There are only 40 tickets available for this gig!
A truly beautiful and unique setting!

A lovely evening at Truro Old Cornwall Society where as well as having a lovely cup of tea you can come and hear me for about an hour singing songs inspired by Cornwall and it’s history and people.
I’ll also be showing some of the films I have made that accompany my songs.
This is a rare opportunity to see Richard performing solo. He will perform material from his new album 'Two Halves' as well as some other favourites from his repertoire. Two Halves presents one side of songs and music inspired by stories from Cornwall’s wonderfully evocative river estuaries. The second half is more akin to his debut album ‘Dig Where You Stand’ and tells stories associated with Cornwall’s industrial heritage. Richard will also show some of the films he has made which accompany some of the songs from the album including Frenchman's Creek, Hope in a Jam Jar, Bringing the Harvest Home and Queen of the Cornish Rhine."
Solo gig in the secret gin garden! Time to be confirmed.
